Beneficial Immunomodulatory Effects of Fluticasone Propionate in Chlamydia pneumoniae-Infected Mice

چکیده

The associations between inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) use and pulmonary infections remains controversial. Chlamydia pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae) accounts for asthma exacerbations; however, there are no data regarding ICS effects on C. infections. Thus, we investigated whether fluticasone propionate (FP) or budesonide (BUD) could affect infection in vitro vivo, focusing the possible mechanisms that lead to potential anti-chlamydial outcomes. We performed direct qPCR detect growth infected, FP-treated, BUD-treated A549 cells. Furthermore, FP BUD was administered by inhalation pneumoniae-infected mice. recoverable determined indirect immunofluorescence. Expression levels of interferon (IFN)-γ IFN-γ inducible chemokines were assessed qPCR. measured protein concentrations other cytokines potentially participate response ELISA. found treatment suppressed cells Higher gene expression observed FP-treated mice compared untreated (p < 0.0001). MIG/CXCL9 values significantly higher after inhalation. Collectively, FP, but not BUD, which likely due enhanced related responses.

Inhaled fluticasone propionate impairs pulmonary clearance of Klebsiella Pneumoniae in mice

BACKGROUND Recent trials demonstrate increased pneumonia risk in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients treated with the inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) fluticasone propionate (FP). There is limited work describing FP effects on host defenses against bacterial pneumonia. METHODS C57BL/6 mice received daily, nose-only exposure to nebulized FP or vehicle for 8 days, followed by pulmonary c...

Ng GSK Medicine: Fluticasone propionate/salmeterol, fluticasone propionate/salmeterol/norflurane

Rationale: Monitoring was required for the introduction of non-chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) propellants in metered dose inhalers (MDIs) to ensure that there were no unexpected adverse events due to the new products. A postmarketing observational study was conducted to evaluate the introduction of the MDI Seretide Evohaler TM (hydrofluoroalkane-134a inhaler containing salmeterol and fluticasone prop...

Comparison of the effects of salmeterol/fluticasone propionate with fluticasone propionate on airway physiology in adults with mild persistent asthma

BACKGROUND This study compared the effect of inhaled fluticasone propionate (FP) with the combination of salmeterol/fluticasone propionate (SFC) on lung function parameters in patients with mild asthma. METHODS Adult patients with mild persistent asthma (> or = 80% predicted FEV1) receiving 200-500 mug of BDP or equivalent were randomised to receive either FP 100 mug or SFC 50/100 mug twice d...

Effects of fluticasone propionate in COPD patients with bronchial hyperresponsiveness.

BACKGROUND Treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with inhaled corticosteroids does not appear to be as effective as similar treatment of asthma. It seems that only certain subgroups of patients with COPD benefit from steroid treatment. A study was undertaken to examine whether inhaled fluticasone propionate (FP) had an effect on lung function and on indices of inflammation i...
